of the Expert meeting – the 7th CONGRESS OF SOCIOLOGISTS OF KAZAKHSTAN, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan “Independent Kazakhstan: Social Changes and Future Prospects”
On October 15, 2021 in the city of Nur-Sultan, in the National Academic Library, the “Association of Sociologists of Kazakhstan” (ASK), with the support of the Ministry of Information and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, is holding the next 7th CONGRESS OF SOCIOLOGISTS OF KAZAKHSTAN on the theme: “Independent Kazakhstan: Social Changes and Future Prospects”, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The works of the Congress is attended by Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbaev, First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Dauren Abaev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Czech Republic, President of the Association of Sociologists of Kazakhstan Marat Tazhin, deputies of the Parliament, heads of the state bodies of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
From the very beginning of gaining independence, sociological research in Kazakhstan has been integrated into the system of public administration and is an important tool for shaping policy taking into account the needs and requirements of the population, providing timely and reliable feedback between the government and citizens. Based on its program goals chosen 19 years ago, the Association of Sociologists of Kazakhstan today continues to successfully perform an important social function of national social studies as a source of generation of relevant practical recommendations that find their application during the development of basic management decisions.
Actively developing, domestic sociology in meaningful cooperation with the foreign sociological community has gained worthy positions in the formats of the International Sociological Association, the Eurasian Sociological Association and the Union of Sociologists of Turkic-speaking Countries. The Association of Sociologists of Kazakhstan has reached the level of international standards, high quality of applied research, implementation of their results in the practice of solving urgent social problems.
In practice work Association of Sociologists of Kazakhstan since 2010, has included the regular activity of the international journal “Әлеуметтану-Sociology”, is published in four languages (Kazakh, Russian, Turkish, and English), on the pages of which articles by authoritative experts on current topics are published. On the platform of the Association of Sociologists of Kazakhstan, two out of seven Congresses of Sociologists of the Turkic-speaking world, more than ten international conferences have been held. A high-quality system of training our own scientific sociological personnel has enriched the current composition of top state management, the pool of civil society leaders with a bright galaxy of successful industry leaders of scientific and expert organizations.
Kazakhstani sociology is currently successfully coping with such institutional challenges as the professionalization of scientific research and training centers, the growth of applied research, the appearance on the labor market of a new generation of highly qualified specialists - PhD doctors. The main forges of sociological cadres are Al-Farabi KazNU and L.N. Gumilyov ENU.
Once every three years, sociologists of the country united in a professional community - the Public Association "Association of Sociologists of Kazakhstan" gather at their Congress to sum up the results of activities, to set themselves new urgent scientific and practical tasks to ensure sustainable development of Kazakhstani society.
Delegates of the 7th Congress of Sociologists of Kazakhstan are authoritative representatives of scientific-academic and expert-analytical organizations and communities, public associations of political scientists, philosophers, historians, religious scholars, the
International Turkic Academy, scientists from the near and far abroad - Russia, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, UAE.
Among them are the President of the International Sociological Association, Head of the Department of Sociology, Director of the Center for Middle Eastern Studies at the American University in Beirut, Dr. Sari Hanafi, Vice-President of the Union of Sociologists of Turkic-Speaking Countries, Professor Hayati Tufekchioglu, Head of the Research Committee of the Russian Society of Sociologists (RSS), Scientific Director of the Department of Sociology of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, Professor Galina Sillaste, Director of the Republican Center for the Study of Public Opinion "Izhtimoiyfikr" (Republic of Uzbekistan, Tashkent) Nigina Rakhimova.
On the eve of the Congress, on the basis of the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, the Association of Sociologists of Kazakhstan is holding the Forum of Young Sociologists "Independent Kazakhstan in the Research of Young Scientists", in which well-known Kazakhstani sociologists conduct master classes for young scientists. Also, within the framework of the Forum of Young Sociologists, a round table was held "Competencies of researcher-sociologists for new challenges.
Within the framework of the Congress - a plenary session and a plenary expert session, a dialogue platform “Human Capital in Kazakhstan: Measurement, Assessment and Development Trends”, as well as a traditional ceremony of awarding representatives of the sociological community.
In their speeches, the participants of the Congress were unanimous that sociological practice over the years of independence of Kazakhstan has undergone serious changes, becoming not only a scientific, but also a social phenomenon. The Association of Sociologists of Kazakhstan has managed to play a very important role in this, having coped with its strategic goal - the disclosure of the intellectual, scientific and organizational potential of the sociological community of the country.
A special edition Almanah / Almanac / Almanac ASK was prepared for the Congress, the first issue of which is dedicated to the Academy of Sociology of Kazakhstan. This collection presents a brief biographical information about the academicians of the Academy of Sociology of Kazakhstan, their selected articles, most of which were published in the collections of materials of congresses, forums, conferences held by the Association of Sociologists of Kazakhstan, since 2002. They reflect the history of Kazakh sociology, the formation of a strong professional union of sociologists in our country, inextricably linked with the history of independent Kazakhstan.
